DRAKE, John - born c1836, Cass Co, IN (per Civil War Record); md Corintha
(QUINCY) CHAPMAN, d/o Daniel Abner & Elmira (Rose-Bell) Chapman, at Antwerp,
Paulding Co, OH in 1863, with her half brother, Timothy CHAPMAN, signing for
her as she was only 16yrs old, bc 1847. We cannot find John DRAKE in any
1850 census in Indiana or Ohio (other counties checked also). The only
census reading we have is in 1870 Paulding Co, OH along with his wife,
Corintha and their three children. John DRAKE died February 1879 at Union
Co, Illinois; per his Civil War Record with the Ohio Infantry. We know the
CHAPMAN family remained in Antwerp, but Corintha moves on to Vigo and
Vermillion Co, IN in the 1880s.
Does anyone have any John DRAKE with parents that may match the above John?
We have searched for his parentage since 1979 with no success.
Thank you.

I'm trying to trace the parent of my grandfather August Rudolph
CARSTENS or his brother Jann Friedrich CARSTENS. He was born
on the border of Germany and Denmark near a town of Husum and
the family moved to near Schleswig Deutachland Hamburg Germany
latter on. He came to America when he was about 16 or 18 years
of age from Hamburg. His date of birth is 3/2/1866. After being
in America about 2 years or so his father passed away and he
stored away on a boat back to Germany for his Funeral. He help
his mother to close a food store the parents owned. While there
the Kaiser Whilhem put him in the army for 4 years After
getting out about 1889 or1890 he stored away again back to
America and back to Toledo Ohio to live with his unknown cousins
While there he meet Rosina KEISTER and married her 8/23/1890.
They had 2 children while there (Rosina and August (Gus) CARTENS
He then sent for his mother, we think (Anna Friedrich CARSTEN)to
come to America to live with them. She was here for about a year
possibly till 1891 and died here somewhere in the German section
of Toledo,Ohio.
After that August and Rosina moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and had 5
more children. He Passed away Oct 27 1944.
I would appreciate any help anyone would give me on his parents
Anna and we think Friedrich CARSTENS and where they lived in
Germany. Thanks for any help I may recieve.FRANK OLIGEE e mail oligee@ctd.com
