PFAFFTOWN,
N.C. – Mary Ann Young, 51, died at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday,
July 15, in Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem N.C. She was born
April 7, 1947, in Allen County, Ind., the daughter of the late Justus
and Pauline (Pack) Dunham. In 1965, she married Larry B. Young, who
survives. She was formally of Paulding village. She was a homemaker,
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, (Mormon)
Winston-Salem 1st Ward, Winston-Salem Stake. She recently finished her
education at the Forsyth Technical College to become a medical
assistant, was a member of the North Carolina Medical Assistant
Association and the American Association of Medical Assistants. She
taught Sunday school and was a Boy Scout leader. She taught genealogy
classes at the Family History Center in Winston-Salem. Both she and her
husband served as foster parents to many children. Also surviving are
the mother and step-father, Pauline and Freeland Adkins of Paulding; a
daughter Laura Gray of Clearfield, Utah; three sons, Michael, Timothy
and Kristopher Young, all of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren; a
sister, Alice Dunham of Paulding; a brother, Eugene Dunham of Emmett,
Idaho. Services were held July 20 at the Church of the Nazarene,
Paulding, with Bishop Jeffery Long and the Rev. Jerry Batterbee
officiating. Burial was at the Hedges Cemetery, near Broughton.
Preferred memorials are to the Shriner’s Children’s
Home Burn Center, Atlanta, Ga.

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), a member of the Executive Board, Boy
Scouts of America, Bossier City, LA, a foster mother to more than 60
children in Gwinnett County, GA, and Director of Patron Services, The
Family History Center, in Winston-Salem,
N.C. A scholarship has been established at Forsyth
Technical College, in Nursing and Medical Assistance in name of Mary
Dunham Young.
