FORMER CONVOY
RESIDENT DIES -Mrs.
Delilah Ann Thompson, 84, stricken Early Today
Mrs. Delilah Ann Thompson,
84, widow of the late Alonzo Thompson, who until a year ago had been a
resident of Convoy, died at 4 A.M. today at the home of her son, Harley
Thompson, in Paulding County: with whom she had been making her home.
She had been ill of heart aliment for the past three months. Mrs.
Thompson was born March 21, 1862 in Allen County. She was a member of
the Fairview United Brethren Church in Paulding County where funeral
services will be held Sunday at 2 P.M., conducted by Rev. Perkins,
pastor. Burial will be in Convoy, IOOF cemetery. The body has been
removed from the Hertz Funeral Home at Convoy to the home of her son in
Paulding County, where friends may call. Mrs. Thompson is survived by
two sons, Harley and Lester, the latter of Tully Township; three
daughters, Mrs Roy Adams of Paulding County, Mrs Fred Cress of Harrison
Township and Mrs. Noel Black of Decatur, Ind; two brothers, Joseph
Yoakam of Lima and Charles Yoakam of Traverse, O.; 24 grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren.

Mrs Delilah Thompson, daughter of Mary and James Yoakam, was born March
21, 1862 and passed to her reward July 26, 1946, at the age of 84
years, 4 months, 5 days, at the home of her son Harley. In May 1882,
she was united in marriage with Alonzo Thompson, who preceded her in
death Nov 9, 1933. To this union were born seven children, four sons
and three daughters of whom one son and one daughter preceded her in
death. She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters and two sons,;
Mrs Roy Adams of Scott; Mrs Fred Cress, Harrison Twp, OH; Mrs N Black,
Decatur IN; Harley Thompson of Scott; and Lester Thompson, Convoy.
Besides the children, she leaves two brothers, Charles and Joseph;
twenty-four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a number of nephews
and nieces; many neighbors and friends. Sister Thompson will be
remembered for her kind words and deeds, and her testimony for her Lord
and Savior. Her supreme desire was to have her life tell for her
Savior, and to lead her children in the way they ought to go. Mrs
Thompson was a member of the Fairview United Brethren Church. Rev Edgar
Perkins officiated, assisted by Rev O A Eddy.
THOMPSON, Kenneth (Date: March 17,
1993 - Paulding Progress, Paulding OH)
SCOTT - Word was
received of the Feb 12, 1993, death of Kenneth Thompson, who died in
Burnsville MN. He was born June 22, 1919, in Scott the son of Harley
and Nell Thompson. He married Katherine Breszovoki, who died in 1962.
In 1979, he married Patricia Holland who survives. Kenneth served in
the US Army during World War II in the Philippines and received the
Bronze Star. Survivors are two daughters Kathy of Santa Fe NM and Angie
of Phoenix AZ; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold of Sequim
WA, and Virgil of Payne.

THOMPSON, Lester (Times Bulletin Van
Wert, OH)
Convoy
- Lester Thompson, 89, Convoy, died at 12:30 pm Feb 22 in Vancrest
Nursing Home. He was born April 29, 1901 in Benton Township, Paulding
County, a son of Alonzo and Delilah (Yoakam) Thompson. In 1923, he
married the former Mary Black and she preceded him in death in 1946. In
1952 he married Verdella Egley and she died in 1984. Survivors include
a son, Marlin of Ansonia; four daughters, Mrs Donald (Mildred) DeLong
and Mrs Maurice (Virginia) Dawson, both of Van Wert, Mrs Paul (Jean)
Feasby of Antwerp, and Eunice Cook of Phoenix AZ; two sisters, Farry
Cress of Convoy and Wilma Black of Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford;
16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and a great-greatgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son William, a daughter Marjorie Taylor,
a grandson Ned Thompson, two brothers and a sister. Mr Thompson had
retired from Federal Mogul Corporation. Funeral services will be held
at 1:30 pm Thursday at Brickner Funeral Home, with the Rev Lynn Mefford
to officiate. Calling hours are from 2-9 pm today and from 9 am until
time of services Thursday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are
to the Convoy United Brethren in Christ Church or to the Convoy EMS.

RITES HELD FOR MRS
NELLIE THOMPSON - Nellie
Cussen Thompson, 72, died at 7:15 am in her home in Scott Wednesday Feb
7th. She had been in failing health for one and one-half years. The
daughter of Donald and Ella (Louis) Cussen, she was born in Antwerp on
June 2, 1889 and lived in the Payne area for 35 years. She was a member
of the Farm Women's Club and St John's Catholic Church, Payne.
Surviving are her husband, Harley; three sons, Harold, Anchorage,
Alaska, Kenneth, Jackson Mich, and Virgil, Payne; three brothers, Dr
Paul Cussen, Detroit, Harold, Warren Mich, and Daniel, Fort Wayne;
three sisters, Mrs Cecelia Mack, Defiance, Mrs Mary Slattery,
Hicksville and Mrs Eleanor Kuntz, Cecil and 11 grandchildren. Services
were held Saturday at 10 am at St John's Catholic Church, Payne. The
Rev Charles W Ruess officiated. Burial was in Dealy cemetery, near
Payne.

EX-FARMERS
UNION CHIEF DIES - Payne
- Virgil W Thompson, 74, died Wednesday Aug 23, 1995 at his home. A
retired farmer, he was past state president and president emeritus of
the Ohio Farmers Union serving from 1978 to 1988. During that time, he
helped increase membership, lobby the legislature and work with
coalitions to help families. The National Farmers Union presented him
with its Meritorious Service Award during last year's convention in
Fargo ND. He was a member of K of C and St John the Baptist Catholic
Church. He was born May 8, 1921, in Payne, the son of Harley and Nellie
(Cussen) Thompson. In 1944, he married Helen Zuber, who survives. Also
surviving are two sons, Marvin of Payne and Roger of Van Wert; four
daughters, Sherry Jackson and Nancy Buckley, both of Paulding, Elaine
(Todd) Sherrick of Delphos and Deb Brigner of Payne; a brother Harold
of Sequim Wash; and 11 grandchildren and a great-grandson. Preceding
him in death was a brother, Kenneth. Services were held Saturday, Aug
26 in St John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev David Kirk
officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Slade Funeral Home,
Payne, was in charge of arrangements. Preferred memorials are to
Paulding Area Visiting Nurses Association.

THRASHER,
a child (Date: September 4, 1902)
An 8-year-old child of Chas. Thrasher died last week and was burried in
the Chapel cemetery.
*Note: This would be Clara, daughter of Charles VanHouten
Thrasher.
THRASHER, Ebon (Date:
August 28, 1947)
Ebon W. Thrasher, 79, a retired Wabash Railroad employe, died Saturday
at 12:30 p.m. of a heart attack inthe home of a nephew, King Delaney,
1791 East Hopkins St., to whose home he had been brought by car on
Friday from Danville, Ill., to make his home.
Mr. Thrasher, a natived of Oakwood, had been living in Danville for 10
years prior to coming here. He had retired in 1954.
He leaves a brother, Ney Thrasher, Oakwood, and a sister, Mrs. E. W.
Delaney, Defiance. His wife, Emma died in 1949, and a
brother,
Harold, in 1940.
He was born on March 1, 1881, a son of Wesley and Martha (Carnahan)
Thrasher.
Friends may call in the Morris-Stick Mortuary where services will be
conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Samuel _____, FIrst Baptist
Minister. The burial will be in Sherman cemetery near Oakwood.
THRASHER,
Goldie (Date: May 26, 1955)
Rites Held Sunday For Goldie Thrasher - Mrs. Goldie Thrasher,
rt.
1, Oakwood, died Friday in the Paulding Memorial Hospital, where she
had been a patient eight weeks. She had been ill
approximately
five months.
Surviving Mrs. Thrasher, a lifelong resident of Oakwood community, are
the husband, Nay THrasher, to whom she had been married 50 years, May
5; three sons, Russell and Ray Thrasher, Oakwood, and Rex Thrasher, Rt.
6, Defiance; six daughters, Mrs. Francis (Opal) Pessefall and Mrs.
Orville (Evelyn) Harter, Oakwood, Mrs. Paul (Bessie) Parrish,
Montpelier, and Mrs. Albert (Gladys) Burkhart, Mrs. Eldon (Faye) Manon
and Mrs. Earl (Mary) Carroll, Defiance; 41 grandchildren seven great
granchildren; a half brother, Benjamin Stanley, Pauldling, and a half
sister, Mrs. May Martin, McComb.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Methodist church Rev.
R.R. Kinney officiating. Burial in the Sherman Cemetery.
THRASHER,
Martha A. (Defiance Crescent News,
December 23, 1943)
Mrs. Martha A.
Thrasher, 82 year old widow of Wesley Thrasher, who died three years
ago, passed away at 9:40 p.m. at the home of her daughter Mrs. Hulda
Delaney, 1057 Holgate Avenue.
Mrs. Thrasher, who
reside a mile and a quarter north of Oakwood, was brought to the
daughter's home four weeks ago when she became ill. She later suffered
a cerbral hemorrahage.
The body was removed
to the Morris Brothers funeral home where services will be held Friday
at 2 p.m. with Rev. W.E. Hayden, pastor of the Baptist church
officiating. Burial will be in the Sherman Cemetery at Charloe.
Mrs. Thrasher was
born in Brown Township, Paulding county, on Dec. 12, 1861, a daughter
of James and Lucinda Carnahan.
Besides the daughter,
she leaves two sons, Ebon Thrasher, Danville, Ill., and Nay Thrasher,
Oakwood; a sister, Mrs. Polly Fuller, Oakwood; 13 grandchildren, and 24
great grandchildren.
THRASHER,
Sarah E. (Date: January 26, 1939)
Sarah E. Thrasher,
eldest daughter
of Cyrus B. and Anna E. May, was born near Hutchinson, Kansas, June 22,
1880, and died at her home in Brown Township, Paulding County, January
26, 1939.
In April, 1931, she
was united in marriage with Francis M. Thrasher.
She is survived by
her husband, Francis M. Thrasher, one sister and four brothers, besides
many other relatives and friends.
She spent her entire
life in the
vicinity in which she lived at the time of her death with the exception
of a very brief period in her very early childhood.
She had been in ill
health over a
period of several years and unable to leave her sick room for the past
few months because of an incurable affliction.
She exemplified
during her last
sickness, to quite a degree, a spirit of consideration for others
around her and bore her sickness with fortitude and courage.
It is often the case
that the
frailties of human nature together with its many short-comings are
given too large a consideration by the people with whom we come in
daily contact, while the finer virtues, because of the very nature of
themselves, are hidden and revealed only to those few who really know
the life by special revelation.
With clearer vision
in an
afterworld humanity will no doubt in looking back to this see wherein
it gave too much concern to the trivial things of this and overlooked
many things of importance to both worlds.
Funeral services were
held Saturday afternoon at 2o'clock at the Oakwood U.B. Church, Rev.
W.A. Howell officiating.
THRASHER,
William Nay (Date: October 31, 1968 -
The Leader Enterprise)
William Nay Thrasher,
84, died at
6:05 a.m. Friday in Defiance Hospital where he was admitted Monday
following a stroke. He had made his home the past four years
with
a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Gladys) Burkhart, 1128 Perry, Defiance.
He was born April 8,
1884 in Brown
Tp., Paulding County, a son of Wesley and Martha (Carnahan) Thrasher,
and attended the Basswood School. In May, 1906, he married
Goldie
Blaine, who died May 20, 1955. A retired farmer, he attended
the
Oakwood United Methodiest Church and was a member of the Oakwood IOOF
Lodge.
Surviving are three
sons, Russell,
Ray and Rex, all of Oakwood; five other daughters, Mrs. Francis (Opal)
Pessefall, Oakwood; Mrs. Paul (Bessie) Parrish, Montpelier, Mrs.
Orville (Evelyn) Harter, Grover Hill; Mrs. Edison (Faye) Manon, Pierst
St., Defiance, and Mrs. Earl (Mary) Carroll, Washington St., Defiance;
a sister, Mrs. Hulda Delaney, Holgate Ave., Defiance; 62 grandchildren
and d 48 great grandchildren.
Services were at 2
p.m. Sunday in
the Taylor Funeral Home, Oakwood, Rev. Richard R. Crosby
officiating. Burial in Sherman Cemetery, west of Oakwood.
