GORDON,
George Platter (DATE: 1923)
George Platter Gordon
son of William and Sarah Gordon was born near Antwerp, Ohio, September
8, 1851. There were eight other children three having preceded him to
the great beyond. He died April 21, 1923 age 71 years 7 months 13 days.
Mr. Gordon has lived near Antwerp about all his life, has been a farmer
in that community. He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Reich
February 22, 1875, to this union was born two children, one having died
in infancy, leaving Harvey C.Gordon who lived near his father. There
remain to mourn his departure his wife, one son, five grand-children,
five brothers S.E. and Coe G., near Cecil, O. John G. and Frank near
Antwerp, and Louis of Kansas. One sister Mrs. Emma Breininger near
Antwerp, and a host of friends.

Martha (DATED: May 29, 1873 - The
Plain Dealer)
With sorrow we learn
of the death of Mrs. Martha Gordon, consort of Mr. Coe Gordon, our
worthy Commissioner, of Crane township. The funeral took place on last
Sunday afternoon, and was largely attended by friends and relatives.
The deceased was beloved by all who knew her for her many excellent
qualities, and her decease was an occurrence of general regret and
grief.

GORDON, Samuel
(DATED: January 16, 1873 - The Plain Dealer)
Death of
Pioneers---Samuel Gordon died at his residence, in Crane township,
Paulding county, last Saturday. Mr. Gordon came on to the river in
1828, and has ever since resided on the farm which he opened up. He was
a good citizen, and did his duty manfully in the early days of
privation and hardship, and lived to enjoy in his old day the fruit of
his labors in affluence.

GORDON, Sarah
(DATED: 13 December 1888)
Mrs. Sarah Gordon
died at her late residence in Cecil on Monday, December 3d, of cancer
of the breast. Funeral the following Wednesday at the Cecil
Presbyterian church. Rev. McClusky, of Antwerp, officiating.Deceased
was a sister of L.S. and H. H. Gordon, of Antwerp.

Verna Everett (DATED: 26 March 1947)
Verna Everett Gordon,
66, died last Wednesday afternoon at the Paulding County Memorial
hospital after a week's illness. Mr. Gordon was born at Cecil, Ohio,
Dec. 7, 1880, and departed this life March 26, 1947, aged 66 years, 3
months and 19 days. On Nov. 5, 1902, he was united in marriage to Clara
Jane Rosselit. Surviving are the widow, Clara Jane; one son, Norman E.,
of Payne and one daughter, Mrs. Ursula M. Snook of Fort Wayne; four
grandchildren; a brother, William Gordon of Cecil, Ohio; three sisters,
Mrs. George DeMuth of Cecil and Miss Sadie Gordon of Shelby, Ohio. Mr.
Gordon and family resided on a farm near Cecil for a number of years
then moved to Paulding. In 1928, the family moved to Payne. Mr. Gordon
was one of Payne's well known businessmen. Funeral services were held
Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at St. Paul's Methodist church, Rev.
Gene Lindsley Winans officiating. Burial in the Lehman cemetery,
southwest of Payne. During the services Miss Jennie Rosentrader sang
"The Lord's Prayer," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden." The
pall bearers were Leo Rosswurm, Bill Foust, Harry McPherson, Robert
Bresnahan, Graydon Goble and Dale Copenhaver. Paul Evans had charge of
the funeral arrangements.
